I have a '98 1750 with a 115 Johnson Faststrike....boat moves fine. Average 40-44 gps mph depending on fuel load and water conditions. A buddy of mine has a 2003 or 2004 w/ a 90 evinrude, I believe e-tec...... we are dead nuts out of the hole...he may even have me by half a boat length. On plane it takes me half a mile before I slowly pull away.......and it's not by much.

A 90 is plenty good on a 1750.
