Probably wouldn't be typing this today if I hadn't been sharing a lap belt with another kid when I was 12 or so. We had finished a couple day float trip down the Missouri river and were driving back home. My seatbelt didn't work and my dad made me share the seatbelt with another kid because it was rainy out. Head on collision going around a turn. So now I get a really weird feeling if I'm ever in a car without a seat belt. I also insist that everybody riding with me puts on the belt.
