An outboard is more comparable to your SUV engine, transmission, differentials, and ect, ect. More like replacing your entire drivetrain and then throwing in the cost to enclose all this equipment into a nice shiny fiberglass case with fresh paint and a few cool decals. Volume also reduces the cost on your truck/suv motor where as the number of outboards that they make is considerably less.
