Location: Kodiak, AK		I asked this very same question a while back. Basically, if your motor is big enough for your boat, you won't need it. The replies I got were that they're a compensation for an underpowered boat. My 200 pushes me just fine out of the hole, and handles 2'-4' chop just fine without any add-ons.
