I am ready to give up here folks! Purchased a new boat in 2005. It was a new 2004 model with a 90 hp Mercury 4 stroke. I understand this is a carbureted motor. Well I had trouble with hard starting from the start (no pun intended). Mechanic said it was an electronic enrichment system and one of the parts failed. Replaced part, covered under warranty. Still had problems with hard starting. New mechanic. Found out motor had 75 hp carbs instead of 90hp carbs installed from the factory. Carbs replaced, covered under warranty. Took the boat out yesterday after it had sat since second week in July. Fired up and then it quit. Never got it started. Half tank of gas, fully charged battery, motor too heavy to lift off boat and dump in the lake! What to do? Is there such a thing as a lemon law for outboard motors? Deer hunting is right around the corner and I think I have just found a place to hang my targets!!! Help!!!!!
