I had found a cut-out cup holder that you can mount on any flat surface. It's about 3 inches in diameter and is plastic. You can buy them in different depths (down to about the height of the can if you want. cost was only about $.99 for each holder. If you buy them deep enough, your can/cup will not come out and spill all over your rig. I have one in the rear of the boat and one in the front, so the only one that would possibly spill by big waves while driving is the front.
Forgot one time to take an empty can out of it and went home, stayed put and didn't come flying out.
