I agree that cable drives are simpler mechanisms, but I MUCH prefer electronic controls. With cable drive, you always have to have your foot on the pedal. I had one for a short while, but I quickly switched back to electronic drive.

The copilot for the Minnkotas is really the cat's pajamas. I never use a foot pedal anymore. I keep one in the boat in case the remote goes out, but it always stays stowed. I can run the trolling motor from anywhere in the boat; I love it.
