Al,

Never got your PM, but we fixed the problem.

Folks,

Here was the problem: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=41...
and: http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=37...

We fixed it this summer by doing the following: removed the charger so that it was not touching the aluminum (this was how our old Minn Kota was mounted - directly to the aluminum - and we never had this problem), found a piece of foam carpet padding, cut it out to the size of the charger, found a block of wood slightly bigger than the charger, used the padding to back the charger and mounted the charger onto the wood, then mounted the wood to the aluminum. So now the unit doesn't touch and no hardware that is in contact with the charger touches the aluminum. Problem solved.

FYI, we checked our garage outlet which is a non-GFI outlet and then ran two extension cords into the bathroom GFI outlet and had the same problem.
