Hey man, I actually had a very similar problem with my Minn Kota -- it turned out to be a switch problem (a 12/24 switch), but that problem created some sort of surge that then fried the motherboard on my motor. My point is, make sure to check the switch before you hook up your next unit to make sure it doesn't fry your unit.
