Location: Hayward, WI | Manta, you were right. Parallel is hooking the + to the + and the - to the -. Parallel maintains 12 volts while series gives 24 volts (or 36 with 3 batteries). If I did it I think I would just hook everything to one battery, and run only the two jumpers to the other battery.
Since you have essentially created one big battery, you could probably hook one positive to one battery and one negative to the other battery (from your trolling motor, etc), and it should work I think. Seems less confusing to hook everything to the same battery though.
