My 55PD is an older one, so I had no issues with drilling and tapping the skeg for the Skimmer transducer bracket. You could through-bolt w/ lockwashers and nuts, too. I've had no issues with prop or skeg turbulence since I did this three years ago.

Typ-rap the cable at the motor and at the housing at the top of the shaft. No need or reason to secure it to the shaft. Search the forum, there was a post not too long ago with pictures of the right way to do it.
