Running a 200 khz transducer on the back of a new Lund 1750 Fisherman. It is mounted on a plate on the transom. It is located more than one foot from the motor.
It is connected to a Lowrance 112C GPS/Sonar combo. All the latest updates are installed on the 112c.

My problem is that I get very inconsistent performance from the unit. Sitting still, drifting, low speed, high speed, sometimes it works and I get a usable signal, sometimes it does not. It was mounted by the dealer and it looked to me like it was mounted correctly. Since it was performing so poorly I asked them to move it down a bit which they did. The puck now sits below the bottom of the transom yet i still have the same problems.

My 520C that uses the transducer in the trolling motor works flawlessly. No, I am not getting signal overlap as the problems exist even when the front unit is off.

I can post a few pics of the mounting later today if that helps.

I have tried adjusting sensitivity etc. to no avail. I have a fair amount of experience with these units but am stumped. I can only think it is:
1) bad wiring
2)bad transducer
3) bad mounting (perhaps the hull on this boat requires a different mounting strategy to overcome the hull rivets?)

Any insight or past experience would be appreciated.

Steve
