I have an 02 vmax 225 2 stroke, non HPDI, and have been having what I think is excessive smoke when I start the motor. The motor runs great, I just think it smokes a little more than it should. Most of the lakes I fish are no wake so most of the time it is running about 7-8 mph. I know it is a 2 stroke and there is oil being burnt but wondering if anyone had any tips for minimizing the initial smoke. Could it be a mixture problem? The motor only has about 250 hours on it. Any ideas would be great. I am going to replace the water pump next week, but don't think that should have any bearing on this situation, or am I wrong. I am using certified oil, but not Yama-lube. Could that be the problem? I'll try anything. Thanks for the help. Oh yeah, I have only noticed it this year. Thanks.
