There is still no reason not to have full battery voltage (minus one or two tenths of a volt max) at any device connected anywhere in the boat. If the battery is good, and there voltage drop at the device is almost a full volt, then there is a resistance somewhere generating heat, not a desirable use for your battery power. This is much more of a problem on the high amp draw applications like the trolling motors than with the low amp draw locators, etc. I had a bow mount 74# thrust blow out a 50 amp inline fuse under high load and the fuse holder/wire insulation was almost melted completely tight just from the corrosion in the connection after a few years of use. |
