JGD,

Lambeau's RAM mount is pretty nice. However, if you're like me, I HATE drilling holes anywhere in our boat. We own a 1850 Fishhawk dual console. You're right, the extra console makes keeping rods out somewhat tricky. When I am fishing a spot and have extra rods I take the rods and reverse them so that the tips are pointing at the console (like Lambeau's picture) and lay them in the little crevice next to the console and the gunwhale. This little nook is plenty big for fitting a few rods there. When we are zipping between spots in calm to medium chop I leave them as is, but usually pull them back so that less of the rod is laying across that "nook" (reduces chances of rods bouncing out of boat). In heavy chop or if we are traveling long distances, I flip the rods around, shove the butt sections under the "nook," and lay the rods flat across the deck.

If I had access to our boat right now I would take pictures of how I do it. In any case, you can do it without having to buy extra things, drill holes, etc.
