Location: Stones throw away...finally!!
Hi all,
Uncovered the boat this afternoon to blow the cobwebs out and noticed my skimmer type transducer mounted to my trolling motor was broken. I have been looking at them and notice that there are 2 styles, accorinding to Lowrance website, a skimmer style that I have now, and a puck style that they say are for trolling motors. I was wondering if anyone had any input as to what style I should replace mine with. It seems that through this rediculous winter, between the pressure of the cover on the transducer and the cold weather, it snapped the neck of the skimmer. I also know of people breaking them on rocks and such. If there is no benefit to the skimmer style as far as performance is concerned, I was thinking about changing to the puck style to try and prevent it from happening again as it would mount tighter to the trolling motor. Any input on benefits or drawbacks to the puck style or skimmer style would be helpful. Thanks for the help. Oh, it would have temp on it, not that it probably matters, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
