The salesman could have sold me a more expensive one but he also owns a ranger and said the bigger rocks will fly right through the fiber ones. My 2 cents.

Well that salesman must have been one heck of a salesman. Because I've used the Kwikpfyt for two seasons now and I've had two expensive fiberglass boats hooked to the back of the truck the last couple seasons and have had no dings that I've found yet! That's with multiple trips to Canada and back on those lovely gravel roads. They'll do the job just fine. Majority of the walleye touring pros run rock guards of some kind with the whiskers like this one. Not just the kwikpfyt but other brands that use the whiskers.

And of course, you will never be able to stop every rock. That's impossible.
