i had those on my 1760 GT (no fiberglass cap, just the plastic/rubber over the top of the gunnel like you describe on your boat).
they worked great for rail-mount rod-holders.
be sure to ask one of the technicians at Tuffy for advice on proper mounting location. try and mount them as high up on the side of the boat as possible.

i'd also suggest you consider rod holders that include a piece that lifts the rod higher than the standard mounts.
since the rails will be mounted inside the gunnel of your boat, you'll want a bit more elevation with your holder to get your rod high enough to angle it down to get the tip in the water if desired. rod holders that are too short will mean your rods will bump the gunnel and not have enough down-angle to get under the surface of the water.
