I have Lowrance GPS/Sonars at the console, and the bow, networked. I have the HD version with the built in maps on the console, and have chips for use in the bow unit. Sometimes I will use a chip in the console unit.

The best thing I like about having the GPS in the bow unit is when I am running long distances, I can put a big compass on the bow unit, and watch that without taking my eyes of the water in front of me. Pretty handy when in the rough stuff, and trying to get out or back. Especially during a tourney.

Overkill? Nope.
