Location: Kronenwetter, WI		If I recall correctly the external will have a longer reception range which is beneficial for those fishing oceans/great lakes. I don't think it's an issue for those who fish inland waters primarily. I have one of each and have never had a problem. Never been on great lakes or ocean, though.
