Andrew, Nice looking boat! You do nice work.

I think the 55 V2 would be plenty for this boat. And don't worry too much about having enough battery life to get you through a whole day. I would suggest you build, if you haven't already, your battery compartment big enough to secure 2 Group 27(or even 31's). Start out with one battery, and if that lasts a whole day, great. If not, add another like battery, wire in parallel, and you will nearly triple your TM time.

I don't think you need to go to a 24V system and the extra 15 pounds to the PD70.

Sorry, I didn't read where you will have another battery in the back. You can wire the two TM batterys in parallel, and get more time from either TM.
