ahh ok, but that isn't quite right either Norm..I would think if it bumped up to 3500 it would have 350 hours...as I just did that little test and mine bumped up to 500 rpms and that is about right as mine as app. 50 hours on it since I put it on the boat in early August...

there's a "formula" for deciphering the hours indicated on the analog Suzuki tach.
if i recall right from my old boat, it's straightforward (500 = 50) until you're over 100 hours (?). once you're past 100 hours i think it moves up to the appropriate 1000rpm mark, then will return to 0 before rising to show the additional hours above 100.

but for some reason i can't seem to find the specifics about it in my current Mercury owner's manuals.
turn key. put hammer down. look back over shoulder at guys running Suzis...
