| Yep, them bigger 2 strokes will spit and spuutter. If you have you mind made up, any of the 4 strokes are good these days. Pick one, and don't look back. But I seem to recall people saying the 4 strokes don't troll as slow as the 2 strokes. I can't confirm, as I never had a big 4 stroke.
That said, JoMusky trolls with his 200 EFI, and DaveJ trolls with his 75 2 stroke. I don't know if either has many complaints. I would expect they use more gas than a kicker. Kicker may be the less expensive option vs trading in on a new main motor.
If you keep that motor, and you want to slow that boat down some, try a couple 20-25" drift bags, on 6' lines, off the front cleats on either side. Keeps the front of the boat down in the waves, and helps with the stability, as well as slowing it down.
