Hey. The shield has to be hooked to ground. Throw the ram mount in the trash. Thats what I had the problem with on my 28. It would respond than not respond. As soon as I removed the 28 from the Ram It worked fine. I remounted the module and never had a problem since. Is is now a foot away.

Also--Plug the GPS Module (antenna) directly into the back of the unit; this will help determine if the extension cable has gone bad.
