Well, if you have to ask.....maybe best to take it to the mechanic?

Maybe a compromise would be to obtain a set of 'muffs'. You attach a hose to them and fit them over the water impeller intake on the outboard and you can start the motor in your driveway and see if it presents any problems. A lot depends on what you did pre-storage: fuel stabilizer, fogging oil, fresh gearcase lube?

Should you decide to take it directly to the lake, please launch at a spot that's not too busy and be sure the motor starts and runs before pulling the boat off the trailer. No way would I take it directly into a river current situation until I was certain it will stay running. m
