Subject: Preparing for Trolling Motor

I just purchased the Minnkota Power V2 trolling motor and will receive it in a week or so. In the meantime I would like to prepare the boat. I have a lund alaskan so i need to install a plug. Are there any specific areas that would be best for the plug? Do I need to worry about installing it at a certain distance from where I believe the motor will mount?

As for wiring a 24 v system. What gauge wire are you guys running between batteries, and two and from your plug? Is 8 gauge heavy enough, or too heavy?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
