| When I broke mine in, it is kind of a pain in the butt because you constantly have to keep changing your RPM's. Also, in the second hour, one out of every ten minutes you have to run it wide open, so bring a watch. Like I said, I ran it for the first three hours and burned 13 gallons of gas. I about had a heart attack. I was ready to call Mercury and complain. Then I ran into a buddy on the water, and he has a 90 hp four stroke, and he said the same thing happened to him when he was breaking his in. I guess during the break in period, they burn a ton of gas. After that though, they seem to stabilize, and burn very little gas. I wish someone would have told me about it before hand. The EFI's definitely seem a little faster. I have a Ranger 680 tiller, and on GPS I was running 37 mph after I broke it in. That is pretty good for a 60hp, on a pretty heavy boat. You will love your motor, I promise you!!
