Depending on your motor, there are some aftermarket products that you could add to your motor, but EPA regulations restrict it to motors made before...I believe 1990 or so, unless you are doing it for testing or racing purposes.

I am always trying different things so I changed out my stock reeds with boyesen carbon fiber reeds and replaced the head with a higher peforming one (its been shaved a touch creating more compression in the cylinder chamber. The reeds are more flexible than stainless steel and do not have reed stops, which will allow them to open up more thus creating more RPMs. Then, if for some reason one gets sucked into the engine, it will not harm the piston.

If you have a mid sized Yamaha 2 stroke or larger, you can purchase high performance heads, Exhaust tuners, engine mounts, larger bore carbs, reeds, etc. that you can add to your motor and still be able to use pump gas, although it must be 89 octane or better.

Biggest thing, though is the EPA on this since the products have not been tested by the EPA, which makes it illegal to do the changes.
