On my old 690 VS, I ran a 54 inch 65 pound thrust Maxxum because that is what was put on it 2 mos. prior to me purchasing the unit. It worked just fine, I was never short on power and the only time I was a little short on length was in some really rough stuff on Mille Lacs that quite frankly I shouldn't have been fishing in anyway.

That being said. IMHO, anything over 65lb. thrust should work just fine for you. I would suggest the 60 inch shaft.
