Bought our boat, trailer and motors new in MN, and registered it in my home state, only my home state does not register motors - savings of $900. sales tax right there.
Your insurance company may have something to say about what state it is registered AND stored in.
Beat the tax leeches anytime you can - especially from the social welfare states.
