| Water wolf, I upgraded to the 1850 mid Sept. Although I put many hours on her before the season closed, I didn't get a chance to try the trolling motor in really bad weather. I did a lot of trolling. In the moderate chop that I was in, the 54" did fine and I had more shaft to use yet if it got worse. I had a 60" shaft on the 1650 FH that got traded and was happy to see it go, it was obnoxiosly long, never had the need for it. Most of the problem was the release thouigh, what a bugger to deploy that thing. The new one deploys like a charm. It was a big pain too when getting shallow , my rod was always hitting it cuz it stuck up too far. (geez I hope the moderators don't zap this for questionable content).I saw a thread once in walleye central about this debate. The ending agreements were to start long, if it doesn't work for you then you can give it the "bobbit" treatment.[] [] Good luck with the Muskie Edition you lucky bugger !!! | |
