I had the same smell in my 02 Lund. I was concerned enough that I took the floor out over the tank, and inspected it. Not a bit of evidence that the tank, or any of the fittings were leaking. After discussing with my dealer, Lund, and others, we determined it was the volatiles in the glue used on the vinyl inside the compartments. I always opened the compartments when the boat was in the garage. Still did it afet 4 years.

Not saying this is the same thing on yours, but I woul definately pull the floor up over the tank, and inspect. Also, make sure the vent tube is secure.
