| Hey Bruce,
I built a custom deck for my old lund pike 18 ss. It originally had that big domed front cover that most lunds had in the late 70's, not made to step on or mount to. I removed the old curved cover and replaced it with a solid piece of 3/4 plywood. I used thompson water seal on it and glued carpet on the top. I mounted it flat to my gunnels using large self tapping screws. Most of the time the wires for a bow light run through the gunnels, so you may have to re-run those. Or at least check for shorts after screwing the deck down. I mounted my deck with 6 1/4'' self tappers and have had no problems. It has never come loose, or given me any trouble. I mounted a 55 lb thrust maxuum to it 5 years ago and it works great. I stand on it all the time, and I'm a big boy. I built a rear casting deck for my boat using the same materials. Both setups work great. It's nice to see someone else is fishing an old boat.
hope this helps
