I agree with Lockjaw somewhat. I bought new, but never will again. Next time I'll buy 2-4 years old, take good care of it, and run it into the ground.
In the last twelve months, I've had to spend about $2500 in regular and repair maintenance on my '99 Chev with 120k on the clock. But that's still *way* cheaper than buying a new equivalent, even if I had to spend that much every year for the rest of it's life (shoudn't have to).
Some people argue with me that it will eventually 'nickel and dime' me to death. I don't believe that to ever be the case for a personal vehicle. It's more economical to repair than replace with new, unless you're talking about a total loss due to wreck or something like that.
So to answer the original question, I'm not buying a new Ford during Ford Truck Month because it just isn't a good value for me. |
