I have a 2005 115 Mercury Four Stroke EFI. Mine will idle at 800 RPMs. It does make a little bit of a clunk but I think it's just the nature of the breed. The dealer told me that it was set where it was supposed to be and not to screw with it. Make sure you let it idle all the way down after starting before engaging the shifter. Someone mentioned before about shifting decisively, go ahead and get it in gear when you are ready to help avoid any grinding of your gears. This has just been my experience.
