you can get the 1890 in a tiller. since the 1890 has a bigger front deck to go with it's longer hull, from what i've seen, the biggest difference in the cockpits is the extra 12" of beam width in the 1890, rather than depth front-to-back. i'm not totally sure on the dimensions, that's just my impression from fishing in both boats. i'm pretty sure Paul Hartman has an 1890 tiller, he'd be a good person to ask about how that layout works for him.
i think you'd actually be surprised at how much cockpit room there is in the 1760: fishing with 2 people and a dog, with a big Frabill, Dunwright 10 box, and a Flambeau Maximizer in the cockpit, i've never felt it was crowded or cluttered.
