I personally prefer a cable drive system. However there are certain conditions where a power drive type system has an advantage. Especially if you want to run the boat from the back of the boat. The cable drive systems are much lower maintenance. For the set up that you are describing I would run a 74lb thrust 24 volt minnkota maxxum cable drive. You already know how good your 55 is. Just my 2 cents.
