You got a short somewhere. You'll have to trace the wires back from the pump to find it. Look for anyplace the wires go through anything metal, like a bulkhead. They probably rubbed through the insulation of the wire. If you have a glass boat, that would kinda rule that out, but you should still look for any bare or chaffed wires..
