| Until next year, I'm limitted to using a 1978 Chrysler 120hp motor. It actually runs like a top, but the lower unit needed the seals replaced. Usually that's a job that they can complete in a couple of hours.
After two weeks at the shop, I began to get a little concerned, so I stopped in there. It seems that since the motor is so old, they are no longer making those parts, and they shop has yet to find someone who has them. The motor may actually be unrepairable. Kind of stinks when you have a motor that actually runs like a dream, but is unusable for other reasons.
If anyone out there knows of a place that may have just the seals for this motor, can you let me know? I looked at TwinCity Outboards for a whole Lower Unit, and they wanted $750-800.00 for it. Tho whole motor in good working order wouldn't even sell for that much. Thanks for any advice you have. | |
