You should try to look at both models. I bought a 617 because it was in my price range and is a true hybrid boat, meaning you can cast and troll from it. The sides are higher than a 618 but not too high. I would think it will handle rough water better. The 618 is more of a casters boat with more storage compartments than the 617. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I have a double console, but i do troll in the fall monthes and my partner will appreciate the protection. Look at both of them.
