I had a similar problem with my maxxum 44, the problem was with the threaded insert that presses in to the aluminum housing. I ended up drilling a small hole into the housing and countersinking the insert not quite to the threads. Then I ran a tap into the aluminum housing and put a collar set screw into the housing. The screw holds the insert so it cannot slide out of the housing. If you pull the pin out you can slide the insert towards the outside with a small punch and run the drillbit through without damaging the insert.
