| I own this motor, and although it runs like a top, I can't keep the lower unit going for more than a couple years at a time before the seals go out. I also now have some gear issues, I think.
I'd like to find a complete lower unit, and I tried Twin City Outboards. The guy there wanted $750.00 for one, which I thought was strange, as I doubt I'd be able to find a buyer for my complete motor at that price.
I can get a guy to completely rebuild mine for about $600.00+, but was wondering if anyone knew of any other outboard scrap places that may have a lower unit cheaper. It's a 1978 motor, so I really don't want to put too much more money into it. You can see my problem here: Do I put any more $ into this motor, or put $ down on a newer motor? I'm not in a position to buy a new outboard, and probably not even a used one of the same hp, so that leaves me with the other options. Unless someone has a 90hp or bigger to give away? Ha ha. Let me know if you have any ideas, as around here, not many Muskies can be caught from the shore. Thanks. | |
