Most two strokes nowaday's are just as or near as quiet as the four strokes. 2 strokes are also alot cheaper to maintain. Power to weight ratio's are far and away better than 4 strokes simply because they fire on every stroke and have less moving parts (that wear out) to rob power. And weigh alot less. Most if you look at the data have lower emissions than 4 strokes. Seriously considered the E-TEC however, as in most cases it came down to price. Even with E-TEC's rebate, MERCURY Opti/Pro XS was still several thousand less. Just my observations. Pat
