Location: Green Bay, WI | I have had both 4 stroke brands--a 200 Honda on an Alumacraft, and now a 150 Yamaha on a Key West. Both are great engines and I think you would be happy with either. But I had Honda first, and I guess I prefer them over Yamaha just a touch--but it's probably a personal preference type of thing. They are both ultra-quiet and run very smoothly. And it is true that the Honda will outweigh the Yamaha everytime in a comparable horsepower. But like mentioned above, if you have made the decision to go with a 4 stroke then the few pounds of weight difference between the two is irrelevant. In Florida it is VERY hard to find Honda delaers. They are here, but Yamaha outsells them 10 to 1, from what I can tell. In fact, Yamaha is the predominant engine in Florida. Jeez...the 4 stroke Yam's are everywhere.
I would personally go with the Honda, but most guys would probably take whatever the dealer cut them a better deal on--and they would likely be very happy wiith either.
