Subject: trolling motor wire

My trolling motor does not seem to have the guts it used to. You really notice it on a windy day and if it's blowing more than 15mph it won't keep up. The only changes I have made besides a battery is moving the battery to the back of the boat. It had 8 guage wire and I ran the rest in 10 guage which is all I could find. It's about 25 feet of wire. I did this a couple years ago. The battery checks out fine. Tonight I rewired it with 4 guage wire front to back. Anybody have any thoughts on this?
