Don't know if you are still considering this or if you already bought, and you didn't say if you were considering a tiller or a console.

I owned one of these (a 185 side console) a few years back, before moving to Florida. Initially I got it with a 130 Honda on it and it was NOWHERE near enough motor for the boat--I couldn't even get the bow out of the water. We tried everything--raising & lowering the motor, different props, etc. Alumacraft even sent one of their reps out to test it. Just not enough motor for the boat. So I put a 200hp Honda on it when they first came out, and WOW--what a rig! I sold it when I moved, but man it was a nice rig. But it was a hog to trailer by myself with that 200 Honda on it.

The tiller model has a max HP rating of 100hp--I cannot imagine how that would perform as it was a total dog with the 130 Honda (which was not known as a powerhouse motor to be sure). But I tell you I couldn't even get the bow wave back to the console, and that was turning almost 6000 rpm. But with the 200 the bow wave was well behind the driver and by myself I could just hit 50mph downwind with about 1/4 tank of fuel. I think I was able to hit about 5750rpm (the Honda made it's 200hp at 5500rpm).

Great boat though...built like a tank. But if Lunds are the halfbacks of the aluminum boat world, then Alumacraft has to be the fullback. Not very agile, to say the least.
