Hey Mike,

I've had problems with trailers, enough to find that it's almost always the ground. I would check your ground for continuity with a multimeter between the truck and the trailer. A bad ground can cause really bizarre problems. Sometimes it can be as simple as cleaning the ball on the hitch, getting the rust off so there is good contact. I had one problem with my Triton with rust on the retractable tongue and it made the whole thing act bizarre. If you disconnected it and it did the same I think you found the problem. Now you just have to narrow it down to exactly where it is.
