Another option is a Pro Pulse. They are composite props that the pitch can be adjusted from 12 to 16 and the blades can be individually replaced. The pich determines the rpm that the engine operates at. Less pich results in higher rpm. What you want is for your engine to run at maximum safe rpm at wide open throttle. A one inch change in pitch makes a 200 rpm change. A four blade prop gets the boat on plane quicker, lets it stay on plane at lower speeds, has less vibration, is less likely to ventilate in sharp turns, but has slightly less top end speed. I run a composite prop and have had no problems. If you run in a lot of rocky lakes the ProPulse could save you a lot of money. West Marine has them for $140.00. In the long run that is cheap since you can replace a blade if you bang a rock. Later
