Subject: RE: Trolling system, rod holder system..suggestions wanted

I mounted hand rails on my run-about for the sole purpose of using the downeast rail-mount salty series rod holders. I like them bunches but have to remind myself to lift straight up when removing the rods and keep them lubricated. I have had a couple of fish on in the past where I have had trouble getting the rod out of hte holder. The torque on the rod holder made it difficult to lift my rod free plus I was not lifting straight up. I adjusted the mounts so I could easily lift them out and keep a good quality spray lubricant on hand - no problems since. I like the hand-rails because it is a cleaner install without having to cut larger holes in my boat. I now run 4 total giving me a good spread.
