Location: Kalamazoo | I have a question regarding the difference between a marine cranking batteries vs. an automotive cranking battery. I have read that the plates inside are the same; however the marine battery is constructed more heavily allowing the battery to absorb more shock from boat use. Marine batteries also come with a male threaded post on them, automotive batteries do not. Some automotive batteries do have a side termanel with threaded holes which you can buy post for. I guess I'm asking because the battery I have for starting seems to be a "little low" after a day of using my electronics, radio etc. Battery is only rated for 500 MCA's. I just bought a 625 MCA's last night and am wondering if I need a bigger one yet. Motor is a 75 merc. I guess the question is . Can I use a automotive battery instead of one designated as “MARINE” |
